"Don't think he can change anything for CSK" - MS Dhoni's return as captain spoiled
Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa has come up with a massive statement on MS Dhoni's reappointment as skipper of Chennai Super Kings. He said that the keeper-batter won't be able to change things for his team as they are struggling big-time in the league.
In what was the biggest development, MS Dhoni was announced as the captain of Chennai Super Kings for the remainder of the IPL 2025. This was because Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the league due to the elbow injury that he faced during the game against Rajasthan Royals.
Ruturaj Gaikwad got hit on the elbow while facing Tushar Deshpande, and after that, he played two games but wasn't 100%. He underwent scans that revealed a fracture, and hence,, he was deemed unfit to take part further in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
MS Dhoni, who stepped down as a captain after the IPL 2024, was asked to lead the team, and it will be the first time he will captain the team after the final of IPL 2023. This, no doubt, will be a boost for the franchise because of his record as a leader and the fact that the team is reeling at the bottom half of the table.

But Robin Uthappa feels that MS Dhoni won't be able to turn the tides for CSK. He believes that there are a lot of gaps in the side and he won't be able to fix it. He pointed out how some of the batters have been struggling with their form. Speaking on Star Sports, he said:
"I don’t think him being captain is going to automatically turn the tide for CSK. There are a lot of gaps on that side, right? Well, how do you fix that? How do you cover for a solid batter like Rutu, who seems like the only one finding some form?"
"We have Devon Conway, who showed some form in the previous game against Punjab — he scored 69* before getting retired out. Rachin has been a little patchy since the IPL began."
MS Dhoni has been the major reason why the Chennai Super Kings are so successful in the franchise. However, this time around, it will be a completely different challenge for him as the team is at 9th in the Points Table and has lost 4 out of their 5 games.
