India batter Virat Kohli made a shocking decision as he retired from Test cricket with immediate effect. The right-hander made the decision through a social media post, saying that it was the right time for him to call his retirement, even though it wasn't an easy decision.
Virat Kohli's retirement will leave a massive void in the Indian Test team. The premier batter made massive contributions to the team. His announcement came at an extremely crucial time when the team was all set to lock horns with England National Cricket Team in the five-match Test series.

With Virat Kohli retiring, Shubman Gill wrote a heartfelt message for the batter, highlighting how the batter reshaped Test cricket and played a role in his life. He said that he is hopeful that his generation will do something similar. Taking to his Instagram account, he said:

From watching you bat when I was 13 and wondering how someone could bring that kind of energy to the field - to sharing the field with you and realizing no one else possibly can - you've not just inspired a generation, you've reshaped.

Virat Kohli has been India's best batter in the Tests as in 123 games he has slammed 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. However, in the last few years, his average has taken a massive dip as he has amassed 1,990 runs in 37 games with just three hundreds.
