"T20I Cricketer of the Year'" Arshdeep Singh on verge of becoming Best T20I pacer of All-time; in touching distance of rewriting history
Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20 internationals. He has taken three wickets in the first two T20Is in the ongoing series.

We are just hours away from the start of the highly anticipated clash between India and England. These two teams will take on each other in the third T20I of the series at 7 PM on Tuesday, which is slated to take place at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Team India are leading the series 2-0, and they will be eyeing making it three out of three. England need a strong performance which can help them to bounce back in the series. Both matches have been dominated by the Indian spinners, as Varun Chakravarthy and Co. have not let the English batters get away with anything.

The English pacers have also done well in both matches and troubled the Indian batters. But not much talk has been regarding India's opening bowler, Arshdeep Singh. The left-arm pacer has been in the form of his life and has given India early breakthroughs in both games in his first over. He is just a couple of wickets away from making history.

Arshdeep Singh needs two wickets to surpass Haris Rauf and achieve a World Record

Arshdeep Singh has been India's premier bowler in T20I cricket and took the most wickets in the T20 World Cup 2024. For his consistent performances in 2024, the left-arm pacer recently won the "ICC T20I Player of the Year" award as well. He is now on the verge of achieving another remarkable feat. Since making his T20I debut in 2022, Arshdeep has been performing for India in different conditions.

He has played 62 T20Is and taken 98 wickets at a strike rate of 13.1 with a best of 4/9. He is currently the leading wicket-taker for India in this format. Arshdeep has taken three wickets in the first two games and needs two more wickets to become the first Indian pacer with 100 T20I wickets.

Not just this; if he takes two wickets in the coming game on Tuesday, he will also become the fastest pacer to take 100 wickets in T20 internationals. Currently, Pakistan's Haris Rauf holds this record, having completed 100 wickets in 71 T20Is. Arshdeep has 8 more games to break that record, which looks very possible.

That means, after winning the "ICC T20I Player of 2024," Arshdeep can add this world record to his name. Meanwhile, he will be the third-fastest overall to reach 100 T20I wickets if he does it on Tuesday. Rashid Khan (53), Sandeep Lamichhane (54), and Wanindu Hasaranga (63) are in the top three, and Arshdeep has played 62 T20Is so far.
