IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad are having a torrid run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Things aren’t just going their way as despite having a star-studded side they have looked off colours in both the games and have suffered two disappointing losses in the first two games.

It’s fair to say that their batting has been the main reason behind their downfall and also they have failed to step up in the pressure situations. Ahead of the tournament many backed them to even win the tournament but their poor show in the first two games have made many rethink their decision.

It’s quite evident that Sunrisers Hyderabad has one of the best teams on paper in the ongoing IPL 2023. But for some reason, they have failed to fire. However, with the kind of talent and firepower they can, it’s safe to say that they are just one win away from gaining all the confidence and returning to winning ways. They just need to do some tactical changes and in this piece, we will take a look at it.

1. Play Harry Brook in the Top 3

English batter Harry Brook has been one the best young players going around the world in cricket. In just a short span of time, the right-hander has achieved some remarkable things and has been touted as the next big thing in cricket by many pundits. He was acquired by SRH for over INR 13 crores but it’s fair to say that the batter hasn’t been utilised well by the management.

The team is asking him to bat at No.5 and finish the innings. But with the kind of player he is, his best will come in the top order. Batting at No.3 will allow Brook to unleash himself more as he’s a good player of fast bowling as compared to spin bowling, which at No.5 becomes the most crucial aspect. The batter has struggled to get going against spin in the initial stage of his career and by promoting him at No.3, not only will they have good start, they can put pressure on the opposition.

2. Utilise Washington Sundar in Power Play

One of the things the SRH has not done well in the two games so far in the IPL 2023 is they have not given Washington Sundar the new ball. Over the years we have seen that the off-spinner has been at his best when he bowls with the new ball.

This will also allow SRH to put pressure on the opposition with the new ball as most batters are not comfortable with the spin in the initial part of their innings. With Bhuvneshwar Kumar operating from one end, the spin of Sundar could create a lot of doubts in the mind of the batters. He’s also economical with the new ball and was successful at RCB doing the same job.
