Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has provided a massive injury update about Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami ahead of the clash against New Zealand in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The match between the teams will take place on 2nd March at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.

India faced a massive injury scare during the game against Pakistan National Cricket Team in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The match took place on Sunday, and it saw the Rohit Sharma-led side winning the game comfortably by the margin of 6 wickets and almost booking their place in the semi-final.

However, in the first innings, India was jolted with two injury scares. First, Mohammed Shami faced some discomfort in the ankle region and went off the field for a few overs. But, thankfully he returned and completed his quota of overs in the game.

To worsen the case more, India captain Rohit Sharma also faced a hamstring pull. The batter was seen stretching his legs and looked in pain. He also went off the field with Shubman Gill taking charge, but he was back after a few overs in what was a positive for the team.

However, his struggles with the hamstring were visible during the batting as well. The India skipper played aggressively but due to the injury, his footwork was restricted.

As far as I know, both Rohit and Shami are fine - Shreyas Iyer

With clouds looming over the fitness of Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer confirmed that there isn't any injury series as both the players are fine. Speaking to reporters after the game, he said:

“As far as I know, both Rohit and Shami are fine. There is no injury concern to them.”

Coming to the match, India had a great outing with bat and ball. Asked to field first, the Rohit Sharma-led side bundled out Pakistan for just 241 runs. In the chase, Virat Kohli slammed a masterful century while Shreyas Iyer hit a half-century as India won with more than seven overs to spare.

India would be keen to carry on the golden form and win the next game as well. It remains to be seen how they go about their business in the next few games.
