2025 ICC Champions Trophy: Senior India player unhappy with Gautam Gambhir for not being...
In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in ANI, it is learned that one of the senior batters of the India National Cricket Team is unhappy with head coach Gautam Gambhir. This is because he is miffed with the way he is treated ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
The reports revealed that it is a wicketkeeper-batter who is not happy with Gautam Gambhir for not keeping him as the first-choice keeper in the ODIs. Although the name of the player isn't known, it can be suspected that it could be one among Rishabh Pant or Sanju Samson, based on how things are currently in Indian cricket.
Gautam Gambhir categorically mentions that they are looking at KL Rahul currently for 2025 ICC Champions Trophy
Rishabh Pant is part of the India National Cricket Team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. However, he isn't seen as a first-choice keeper as head coach Gautam Gambhir categorically mentioned that they are looking at KL Rahul currently, and he will be there in the tournament as well.
This was quite evident during the recently concluded three-match ODI series of India National Cricket Team against England. Rishabh Pant warmed the bench for all three games even though KL Rahul failed to score runs and bagged low scores in the three games.
Rishabh Pant no doubt has been one of the biggest match-winners for India National Cricket Team. His ability to thrive under pressure situations and bail the team out of trouble has seen him winning games single-handedly.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson wasn't even named in the ODIs despite having an average of over 50. In the last match that he played in the format, he slammed a terrific century, and even after that, he was dropped from the India National Cricket Team, which raised a lot of eyebrows.
Sanju Samson, however, has been top-notch in the T20Is. Ever since he has been promoted to open, he has looked staggering and has slammed three centuries. He wasn't picked in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy as he didn't appear in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Kerala.
