3 Big Players who will become captain of the IPL Teams in the IPL 2022.

IPL 2022: The fifteenth edition of the elite Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be historic in itself. Firstly because of the addition of the two new IPL teams and secondly, as per the reports, the upcoming IPL Mega Auction is going to be the last mega auction that the BCCI is conducting.

The wholesome entertainment provided by the IPL is unmatchable and no other league in the world has ever come across IPL in any aspect. While a few fans are already waiting for the action to begin, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a much bigger responsibility ahead to host the mega auctions.

The IPL franchises including the two new franchises will fill up their squads with deserving players. Moreover, every single player barring a few retained ones will head over to the auction table which will make the bidding interesting for the fans.

The captain of any team or a group is the key player who has the responsibility of the highest order. Having a capable skipper or leader is a boon in itself for any group or in this case, a franchise.

Due to the mega auction, several IPL franchises had to release their captains and all these players will go to the auction to get a new franchise. There will be teams that will be looking after some of the potential candidates for the leadership roles for the team in the coming auction.

This very article will lead you through the 3 Big Players who will become captain of the IPL team in the coming season of the gala tournament.

The former Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper KL Rahul is the first member in the list of top 3 potential players who can lead an IPL franchise. Rahul has shown tremendous grit and determination in the past few IPL seasons and his consistency is incredible.

Rahul has scored over 500 runs in every IPL edition he played since 2018. In the last two seasons, he crossed 600 runs mark in just 14 matches. He is too good as a player, however, his captaincy skills haven’t been displayed to their best.

He was the leader of Punjab Kings (PBKS) since IPL 2020, but his stint as the captain hasn’t been productive. His team has been languishing at the bottom side of the points table every single season of the Indian Premier League.

It will be a matter of time how Rahul address his style of captaincy. As per reports, KL Rahul is likely to join Lucknow’s new IPL team and the franchise officials are keen on having Rahul as the leader of the side.

If the reports come true, this will be Rahul’s best chance to hone his leadership skills for becoming a prospect of Indian future captaincy.

The second on the list is Shreyas Iyer, the former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper. Iyer has been reckoned as the future of Indian cricket with his sheer commitment, dedication and captaincy skills.

The shocking release from Delhi Capitals (DC) was not anticipated by any. DC retained four of their top players and Shreyas Iyer’s name was not on that list. Iyer, moreover, was no more Delhi’s first choice captain following the appointment of young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant.

Shreyas Iyer’s leadership was tested in the year 2019 and 2020 when the franchise just revamped the squad with a mix of young guns and experience. He commendably led his team to their first playoff after six long years of wait in 2019.

He then raised the bar of his leadership as the IPL 2020 became Delhi Capitals (DC) maiden IPL final appearance. With two year’s back to back success, Shreyas Iyer name was now being counted amongst the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.

DC, unexpectedly, released Iyer and obviously, the new teams or even the existing teams will be in the fray to acquire Shreyas’s services. He is almost certain to become the captain of whichever franchise he gets into.

Reports say, Ahmedabad is keen on having Shreyas Iyer as the leader of the side and has already signed the contracts.

David Warner:

The third on the list is Aussie superstar cricketer David Warner. He is pure entertainment for the fans. Every time he steps into the cricket ground, he always has something for his fans, even his off-field engagements are hilarious and fans love him for being him.

David Warner’s capabilities in the IPL are dominating on another level. His consistency as a batter and his brilliance as the leader of the group are quite commendable.

As a batsman, Warner has scored over 5,400 runs in the IPL in just 150 matches. His average of 41.59 is simply stunning. While his captaincy skills are appreciable too. He took SRH to its maiden IPL title in 2016. During his stint as the captain of SRH (2016-2021), he took his team to the playoffs five times.

However, a single silent season changed the game for the Aussie cricketer. He was sacked from the captaincy and then removed from the squad as well. As of now, David Warner’s services in the IPL are up for grabs and it has been reported that Warner is likely to be picked up by any of the two new IPL teams.

It is unlikely for David Warner to get captaincy of the two new teams, however, if he goes to the auction and gets one of the existing eight franchises, he might be given the leadership roles.
