3 IPL franchises that can pick Rahul Chahar in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022: Young Indian spinner Rahul Chahar is likely to get big bucks in the coming season of the Indian Premier League. With mega auction lined ahead of the IPL 2022, the franchises will look to acquire big match players in the squad by shelling out massive sums.

Rahul Chahar, who was the part of Mumbai Indians (MI) squad until 2021 IPL, has been released by the franchise. MI retained the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard as their top four retentions.

The young tweaker was bought by Mumbai back in 2019 and since then he has been an integral part of the squad. He scalped 13 wickets in the recently held IPL 2021 after featuring in 11 matches. In the IPL 2020 and IPL 2019, Rahul had two breakthrough seasons as he picked up 15 and 13 good wickets respectively for Mumbai Indians.

Here in this article, we will take a look at the top 3 IPL franchises that can pick Rahul Chahar in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

3 IPL franchises that can pick Rahul Chahar in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction:

Mumbai Indians (MI):

The five times IPL champions Mumbai Indians (MI) obviously comes first on the list. MI would love to have Chahar back in the squad for the next IPL season. He was a fantastic asset to his team.

Mumbai likes to stick to its core group and Rahul Chahar was indeed part of that group. The franchise in blue and gold will surely have a go at the services during the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

His consistent performance for Mumbai has fetched him his T20I call-up a few years ago. He received his ODI cap owing to his sensational consistency in the shortest format.

Moreover, Mumbai has largely struggled in its spin department over the years, but Rahul Chahar, ever since he joined the franchise in 2019, he solved that puzzle for the team.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

The RCB management let go of the ace spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the squad during the recent player retention. The franchise retained just three players in Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj.

Yuzvendra Chahal is highly unlikely to head to the auction table as one of the two new IPL franchises are keen on his valuable duties. Moreover, if he goes to the auction table, by any chance, he will undoubtedly bag a heavy contract.

Rahul Chahar will be value for money product for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They will have to rope in someone who can fill the void created by Yuzvendra Chahal and young Rahul Chahar is a perfect candidate to do so.

Moreover, Virat Kohli believes in the services of 22-years old Rahul Chahar. He has a lot of confidence in Chahar’s spin-web when he plays for India which is a good enough reason for RCB to bid for the youngster.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):

Another franchise that is probable to bid for Rahul Chahar is Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Owing to some pay differences with SRH, Rashid Khan was released by the franchise during the recently held IPL 2022 Player Retention process.

SRH only retained the services of Kane Williamson, who will be the skipper of the side, and two youngsters in Umran Malik and Abdul Samad.

Reportedly, Rashid Khan wanted to be the first choice retention which would have fetched him a massive INR 16 Crores from the franchise, while the SRH wanted Kane Williamson to be their top-most retention.

Now with SRH missing the ace services of Rashid Khan, they will go after the other top spinners during the auction and Rahul Chahar will be one of them.

Rahul is surely going to be one of the most sought players in the coming auction. He will put teams in a bidding war and get big bucks.
