IPL 2025: The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League will be even grander, as there will be a mega auction ahead of the IPL 2025. Some of the biggest superstars of the game will be available to pick, as all teams can only retain a maximum of 6 players, while all remaining players will be released.
An IPL auction has always changed the lives of many cricketers because of the amount of money involved. But it has also seen players with a massive price get sold cheaply at the auction. IPL is the only tournament that gives a player a life-changing amount.
But with a mega auction coming up, we might see some players with massive price tags get released. Hence, we will talk here about three players who received a salary of over 15 crore in 2024 who get released ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
IPL 2025: Three Players with a Price tag of over 15 crore get released ahead of the mega auction
3. Ishan Kishan - 15.25 Crore
Mumbai Indians have been performing poorly since last four seasons, as they have made the playoffs only once and finished at the bottom of the table twice. So, we might see some big changes ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
They might even release some big names, and Ishan Kishan is likely to be one of them. The Southpaw was re-signed at the 2022 auction for a price of INR 15.25 crore. But he couldn't perform well and might be released.
2. Cameron Green - 17.50 crore
The Australian all-rounder was signed by Mumbai Indians in 2023 at a big price of INR 17.5 crore. He did well for them but was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024. The all-rounder had an average season with RCB.
And now with his heavy price tag, the franchise might look to release him because they can get him back at a lower price at the 2025 mega auction.
3. Mitchell Starc - 24.75 crore
The Australian speedster made history at the 2024 auction when Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for a mind-boggling price of INR 24.75 crore, making him the most expensive player in the history of the IPL. Starc had an average start in 2024.
But he found his mojo back in the second half and won consecutive Player of the Match awards in Qualifier 1 and the final. Those performances justified his price tag for KKR. But unfortunately, with limited retentions in the IPL 2025, Starc might be released. KKR has Narine, Russell, Chakravarty, Iyer, and a few others to retain, but KKR might try to buy Starc again at the IPL 2025 auction.
