IPL 2022: 3 Possible players who can be given captaincy of the two new IPL franchises in IPL 2022.

IPL 2022: When the entertainment and fun started to take off, the covid-19 situation in the country and inside the bio-bubble put a full stop in the most lucrative T20 league. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was suspended for an indefinite time due to the multiple covid cases inside the bubbles.

However, keeping in mind the current situation of the country, the fans have lost all hopes for Phase-2, as they say, of the IPL 2021. Although, various news has been there citing that the remaining 31 games of the IPL might be conducted outside India but the fans are now looking forward to the next year’s IPL.

As said earlier, BCCI will most likely add two new IPL franchises in the IPL 2022 and the mega auction will be held.

So, Here are the 3 possible skippers of the two new franchises in IPL 2022.

3 Possible players who can be given captaincy of the two new IPL franchises:

Quinton de Kock:

The South African and Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been one of the most premier players in the MI lineup for the past couple of years now. In fact, de Kock is the first choice wicketkeeper and opener for Mumbai Indians. This can be proven by the fact that in-form Chris Lynn was benched by the franchise in order to field Quinton de Kock in IPL 2021.

However, the IPL 2022 mega auction for the five-times champion could be a little tricky and a tight affair. Having high profile names like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Mumbai Indians might let go Quinton de Kock.

For the two new franchises, Quinton could be a good choice for the captaincy. Having led his national side in all three formats, de Kock can come out to be a good IPL skipper. Also, his impact with the captaincy will be complemented by his batting up front and can give a good balance to the side.

David Warner:

The last couple of weeks have not been good for the Aussie batsman. Warner has led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their only IPL title and is always amidst the runs. However, a couple of unfortunate games resulted in him losing his captaincy to Kane Williamson.

If Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leaves David Warner out in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, he might end up involving franchises into bidding wars.

For the newly added franchises, Warner could be a perfect option to lead the side. He is a skilled batsman with a lot of IPL experience. He can be quite lethal if given another chance with a new franchise in the IPL 2022.

Steve Smith:

Another Australian cricketer could be a good captaincy option for the newly added franchises for the IPL 2022.

Steve Smith, who played for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the midway halted IPL 2021, have topped the charts for many years in T20 cricket. Smith was dropped from Rajasthan Royals (RR) captaincy in last season however he was picked by DC in the IPL 2021.

Smith’s IPL records produce a false image of him though he has an extremely explosive record in the other T20 leagues.

Given that he has led his national side Australia in the limited over cricket, Smith could be one of the best choices for the captaincy roles.
