Vivo IPL 2021: 3 Worrying Signs for Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of Vivo IPL 2021 phase 2.

Vivo IPL 2021: The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) is still very much likely to win the Vivo IPL 2021 title and get crowned for the record sixth time. However, advancing to the second half of the IPL 2021 will not be as easy as it looks for the five-time champions.

Rohit Sharma and Co. will have to plan out various things before they head out to compete with any other teams. There are certain issues with the players of the franchise that needs to be sorted out before the commencement of the second phase.

As reported earlier, the second half of the Vivo IPL 2021 will kickstart on 19th September with arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) locking horns against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in Dubai.

The article will take you through the three most probable issues which Mumbai Indians (MI) will face in the second half.

Vivo IPL 2021: 3 Worrying Signs for Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of Vivo IPL 2021 phase 2:

Out of form Jasprit Bumrah:

Mumbai Indians’ (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s form will be one key aspect the management will be looking into. Bumrah looked out of touch in the first seven games of the Vivo IPL 2021 and was also lacking his prime form in the all-important ICC World Test Championship 2021.

The issue of Bumrah’s form gets bigger to Mumbai Indians (MI) because there is no certainty in the availability of overseas pacers for the Vivo IPL 2021 phase 2. The likes of Trent Boult, James Neesham, Adam Milne, Macro Jansen are yet to confirm their presence.

BCCI has been in constant talks with their overs counterparts, however, no positive results have been seen until now.

All the eyeballs of MI management will be eager to watch Jasprit Bumrah getting back into the groove and shine in the upcoming England vs India test series.

If he retains his good touch, it will be good news for the franchise, however, anything opposite of that will have some serious effect on the IPL 2021.

Kieron Pollard’s injury:

Stalwart Kieron Pollard is a crucial cog in the wheel of the Mumbai Indians (MI) batting lineup. The all-rounder has delivered more often than not in the format and is a consistent performer for his team.

Pollard sustained a hamstring injury in the recent limited-overs series against Australia and still recovering.

The franchise will require his services again in the IPL 2021 and it will be important for him to get back to his golden touch.

Pollard missed several scoring opportunities in the first six IPL 2021 matches, however, announced his arrival against CSK with an unbeaten 87 runs off 34 delivers and took his team to the win.

Out of form Hardik Pandya:

The dashing all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been amongst the injuries in recent times. He sustained a back injury two years ago and underwent surgery, however, he still feels uncomfortable while bowling and is not yet entitled to be reckoned as a 100 per cent fit cricketer.

Moreover, the cricketer is lacking his key form owing to his injuries.

His first seven innings of the IPL 2021 were forgetful. The all-rounder managed to amass mere 52 runs and struggled to live up to the expectations. His recent ODI and T20I performances in the Sri Lanka tour are not quite impressive either.

Mumbai Indians (MI) will have to find answers to all these questions before heading out for the second phase.
