IPL 2022 Retention: After a lot of debates and discussions over the two new IPL franchises, things have started falling in place and it seems that the IPL 2022 will feature ten teams. The BCCI on Monday informed about a lot of things for which a blueprint has been set up, this includes, the tender for the new franchises, new retention policies, increase in total purse value and the fresh media rights.
Talking about the new retention policy, each franchise will be entitled to retain a maximum of four players that can be divided into 3 Indian players and one overseas or two Indian players and two overseas players.
The board also said that barring these retained cricketers, everyone will directly head to the Auction table and will be picked from there.

Delhi Capitals (DC):
Shreyas Iyer: Delhi Capitals (DC) regular skipper Shreyas Iyer will be in the first place to get retained ahead of the IPL 2022. Ever since he picked the captaincy roles for the franchise, he has turned the fortunes into their favour.
Rishabh Pant: The franchise will also place its cards to retain southpaw Rishabh Pant. The wicketkeeper-batsman is the captain of this year’s IPL, as Iyer was ruled out, and is likely to continue his role until the end of the season.
Shikhar Dhawan: The left-handed opener Shikhar Dhawan has shown great confidence in his batting and is consistently improving in it. The cricketer is leading the run-getters chart in the IPL 2021 and is likely to get retained.

Chris Gayle: The Caribbean power, Punjab Kings (PBKS) would like to improve their firepower in the top order. Gayle has been sensational in the IPL and overall T20 career, he can take the game away from any opponent in just a flick of an eye.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):
Kane Williamson: The stand-in skipper for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2021, Kane Williamson, owing to his recent form will surely find a place back in the team. Although management’s decision on going ahead with him as the skipper is not yet clear, his place in the team is pretty much certain.

Pat Cummins: The Aussie pacer Pat Cummins is likely to be back in purple jersey in the coming season of the Indian Premier League. Cummins had a good season with the ball in 2021 and will hope to continue that.
Andree Russell: There is not a single reason to leave explosive all-rounder Andree Russell in the Auctions. KKR will back their superstar as one failed season will surely not affect the management’s mind.
Varun Chakravarthy: Not a popular choice but Varun Chakravarthy deserves to be in the KKR squad again. The spinner has been a key bowler for the franchise and is always amongst wickets.
