5 records broken by Shubman Gill during his impactful hundred at Ahmedabad before the ICC Champions Trophy
Indian superstar batter Shubman Gill made a statement comeback to ODI cricket ever since his return to the format after a long gap against England in the ongoing 3-match ODI series. The opening batter has been a star performer for India, gearing up for the big fifties and Player of the Match awards.
Coming with already the series won with a 2-0 lead at Cuttack, Gill seemed filled with confidence on a track of the Narendra Modi Stadium to which he is well adapted. Shubman scored a stellar hundred after almost 14 innings or, more notably, 500+ days without scoring a ton in the 50-over format internationally.

The Indian opener surpassed the previous record of legendary Protea batter Hashim Amla in scoring the fastest 2500 runs in international ODI cricket. Amla, who achieved it in 51 innings, was surpassed by Gill, who completed his 2500 runs in just his 50th ODI match.
2. Fastest Indian to complete 7 ODI hundreds
Shubman Gill is now the fastest among Indian batters to have reached the milestone of 7 ODI hundreds in international cricket. He has played the last innings to reach this great feat, as he is also the second world batter currently to have scored the most hundreds with all formats combined ever since 2023, leveled with Joe Root with 13 hundreds overall.

Shubman Gill also became the fifth batter in the world to have acquired this unique record of having scored centuries across all formats at a specific venue. Gill joined the elite list of batters, David Warner [Adelaide Oval], Quinton de Kock [Centurion], Faf du Plessis [Wanderers], and Babar Azam [Karachi], to have scored 100 at the same venue at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
5. Only Indian batter to score a hundred in his 50th ODI
Shubman Gill is now the only Indian batter to have scored a hundred in his 50th One-Day International match, which seems a compelling achievement in the longer white-ball format of the game.
