50% fans allowed to witness Virat Kohli’s 100th Test match on March 4: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed that crowds will be permitted to witness former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli’s 100th test appearance against Sri Lanka. Earlier, Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) informed that the India vs Sri Lanka test will be held behind the closed door, however, encouraging signs in the COVID situation in India forced the officials to revisit their decision, which has now been reversed.
Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development on Tuesday.
“The first Test between India and Sri Lanka to be played at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali will not be held behind closed doors,” Jay Shah told ANI.
He said that the revision on the decision to host fans was taken by the State Cricket Association and is based on several other factors as well.
“The decision to allow spectators into the ground is one taken by the State Cricketing Associations and in the present circumstances, is based on various factors,” he added.

“I have spoken with the PCA office bearers and they have confirmed that cricket fans will be able to witness the historic moment of Virat Kohli playing his 100th Test match.”
Virat Kohli will be featuring in his 100th test match in Mohali’s PCA Stadium. The match will be played against the island nation (Sri Lanka), starting March 4. Interestingly, Virat Kohli’s 100th test match will mark the beginning of Rohit Sharma’s test captaincy career for team India.
Jay Shah, in his statement, heaped praises on Virat Kohli for achieving great feats in such a short span. He congratulated the cricketer for his marvellous records in the traditional format of cricket.

The two matches test series against Sri Lanka will begin on March 4 in Mohali. The second match of the series will be held in Bangaluru, starting March 12.
