WTC Updated (after NZ vs SL) Points Table: India and Australia into the WTC Final: Australia defeated India at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Friday (March 3), cementing their slot for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 title match. India’s entry into the WTC final has already been secured after New Zealand’s victory against Sri Lanka in the first test.
Sri Lanka’s aspirations of reaching the World Test Championship final were dashed after New Zealand defeated them in the first Test. New Zealand vs Sri Lanka’s 1st test turned into a real nailbiter when New Zealand needed 20 runs in 18 balls and Sri Lanka needed 5 wickets. Back-to-back falls of wickets and boundaries made things exciting at the end. Skipper Kane Williamson’s ton counted on the winning purpose finally and New Zealand upsets Sri Lanka by 2 wickets.
This defeat of Sri Lanka ensures India’s spot in the championship final. Now, India will square off against Australia in the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 starting 7 June 2023. The WTC final is set to be held at The Ovals, England at the neutral venue.
