IPL 2023 Points Table, Orange Cap, Purple Cap: In the second game of Saturday’s doubleheaders, Krunal Pandya’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Nitish Rana’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by one run at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The remarkable victory has resulted in the official qualification of LSG for the Playoffs.
This game was extremely significant for LSG in terms of qualification. Batting first, Lucknow scored 176 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Left-handed batsman Nicholas Pooran from Lucknow, who has got the responsibility of finisher this season, scored an innings of 58 runs in 30 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes.
KKR made a strong start when attempting to chase down the 176-run total, but the middle-order batsmen were unable to capitalize on this performance. A 61-run partnership for the first wicket was shared by opener Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer.
Rinku Singh was on the opposite wicket as the other middle-order batters were being dismissed one by one. With the help of six fours and four sixes, Rinku scored 67 runs in 33 balls, but he was unable to help his team win the game.
