Although there is no confirmation on the IPL 2024 Auction and its details, we can draw a basic timeline on the basis of the IPL 2023. The IPL 2023 Auction was held in the month of December in 2022 and fans can expect the IPL 2024 Auction to be held in December-January later this year.
In the year 2023, the BCCI increased the purse value by INR 5 Crores to 95 Crores. The Indian cricket board is likely to elevate the IPL 2024 Purse value to INR 100 Crores, which is an increase of INR 5 Crores. Each franchise has to shell out at least 75 percent of their allotted value to put together a strong squad for the upcoming season.
IPL 2024 Auction Date
As of now there is no confirmed details available on the IPL 2024 Auction Date. However, the cash-rich event is likely to be held in the month of December or January. Most probably the BCCI would look for a window in mid December to conduct the IPL 2024 Auction.
IPL 2024 Player Retention Rules
All 10 IPL franchises will be keen on retaining most of their players as the upcoming auction isn’t going to be as big as it was in 2022. The players who have shown potential will be retained by their respective franchises. However, there will be some players who will be released by teams.
The released players will head to the auction table to get a new franchise or get sold back to their previous team for a revised price value.
