Asia Cup 2023: Bumrah, Iyer aim Asia Cup 2023 for comeback, Pant likely to be fit for World Cup 2023

Asia Cup 2023: Bumrah, Iyer aim Asia Cup 2023 for comeback, Pant likely to be fit for World Cup 2023 : The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer, who were seen missing during team India’s second ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, are likely to make their comeback in the next couple of months. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant’s re-entry to cricket is expected to be around the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are eyeing Asia Cup 2023 as the tournament to make a comeback in international cricket after getting sidelined due to injuries. This year’s Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on August 31 in the hybrid model.

Bumrah has been away from cricket for close to a year now. The pacer suffered a back injury in July 2022. He was, however, rushed into the T20I series against Australia in September 2022, which put him in a risk of aggravating his back injury and he again went back to nurse his injury. As per the latest developments, Bumrah is on track to make his comeback.

Shreyas Iyer, on the other side, suffered from a lower back issue which has kept him away from cricket since January 2023. He was subsequently ruled out of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and the entire Tata IPL 2023.

Now, as things stand, both Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and undergoing rehabilitation.

As per the report of ESPNcricinfo, the medical experts at the NCA are optimistic that Bumrah and Iyer will be available for selection before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant’s recovery from multiple bruises and injuries seems to be encouraging. The left-handed wicketkeeper batter miraculously escaped a fatal car accident while going to his hometown to celebrate New Year 2023. Pant’s car got rammed into the road divider and took a flip.

With the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 lined ahead, the BCCI intends to prepare Rishabh Pant match ready for the show-piece event, which will be held in India in October-November.

As per the medical team at the NCA, Rishabh’s recovery is encouraging for Team India. He has made swift progress exceeding the expectations of all the medical experts.

Pant, who played a key role in India’s Border Gavaskar Trophy win in Australia back in 2021, recently uploaded a video sharing his recovery updates. In the short video, the cricketer was seen climbing staircases without any support.

“Not bad yaar Rishabh. Simple things can be difficult sometimes,” captioned Rishabh Pant as he shared the clip of his recovery on social media.
