BAN vs AFG 2023: On 18 June, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced the 19-members squad for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh, which is scheduled for 5 July 2023.
Afghanistan’s tour of Bangladesh started on 5 July from a one-off test series in which Afghanistan lost that match by 500 runs. For the ODI series, the Afghanistan team announced a 19-member strong squad for the upcoming series.
Rashid Khan made a comeback for the ODI series after missing the test series against Bangladesh. The most experienced and talented leg spinner of the Afghanistan team Rashid Khan is ready to test the skill of Bangladeshi batters in the upcoming ODI series. The current ICC bowling ranking of Rashid Khan is 7th, which is the best among both teams.
In IPL 2023, Rashid Khan picked 27 wickets for his team Gujarat Titans, which was the second-highest in the Tournament. After playing a long season of IPL, Rashid rested for a few days ahead of the ODI series.
Hashmatullah Shahidi is going to lead the new Afghan team for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Key players of Afghanistan for the ODI series who can lead Afghanistan to victory are Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Rashid Khan.
Selector added Naveen-ul-Haq to the 10-man back-up reserve player list for future ODIs and World Cup after his poor performance in IPL. Naveen-ul-Haq took ten wickets in 6 matches at an average of 20.45.
From 5 July to 11 July 2023, Afghanistan will play a three-match ODI series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. The first ODI match will be on 5 July, whereas the second will be on 8 July, and the last match of the ODI series will be played on 11 July.
