IND vs IRE: India T20I Squad for tour of Ireland 2023: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be providing much-needed rest to a couple of Indian Star Players during the upcoming India tour of Ireland 2023. As per the reports, team India’s T20I skipper Hardik Pandya along with other players could get a breather for the Ireland T20I series in the wake of a packed calendar ahead.
The India tour of Ireland 2023, comprises a three-game IND vs IRE T20I series, to be played at the Malahide Cricket Club Ground, Starting August 18. The second game of the IND vs IRE T20I leg is scheduled to be held on August 20, meanwhile, the last tour game is on August 23.
In the wake of the marquee events lined ahead, the BCCI is likely to rest a few Indian players from the IND vs IRE series. T20I skipper Hardik Pandya’s workload would be crucial as he is an indispensable part of India’s white-ball squad.
Along with Hardik Pandya, the Indian cricket board could also rest opener Shubman Gill, who has now become a three-format player for India.
Sources close to the BCCI said the call on Hardik Pandya’s participation in the IND vs IRE T20I series will be taken after consulting him following the India vs West Indies white ball series.
“Nothing is finalised yet and it will also depend on how Hardik is feeling after the one-dayers and T20s in the West Indies. There is travelling involved and only a short turnaround of three days before one flies from Florida to Dublin,” said a close source.
Notably, the Indian players will get just three days time after the completion of the India tour of West Indies 2023 to reach Dublin for the IND vs IRE T20I series. India’s last tour game in West Indies is on August 13 and the team’s opening game in the tour of Ireland is on August 18.
“With World Cup being of primary importance, one has to factor in his workload. Let’s not forget he will be Rohit’s deputy in the World Cup,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Team India’s T20I Squad for Ireland will also miss the services of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. As it seems, the BCCI has made up its mind to do away with these star players following their failures in producing fruitful results in the recent past.
