Virat Kohli doubtful for IND vs WI 3rd ODI: Reports: Team India’s former captain Virat Kohli is likely to be unavailable for the IND vs WI 3rd ODI in Trinidad after he was seen missing from the team bus. Reportedly, Kohli didn’t travel with the Indian squad to Trinidad, which is the venue for the 3rd IND vs WI ODI on 1st August.
Virat Kohli was rested for the 2nd ODI between India and West Indies, which the latter side won by six wickets. Kohli along with captain Rohit Sharma were rested for the game which saw India’s complete debacle, two nights ago.
Following India’s underwhelming show in Barbados, it was expected that both the stalwarts of the Indian team would make their return for the series decider.
However, keeping in mind Virat Kohli’s absence from the squad in Trinidad, his position for tomorrow’s game can not be ascertained. In all likelihood, if Virat Kohli continues to warm the bench, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav will get one more opportunity to showcase their worth.
Both Samson and Suryakumar Yadav are struggling to make a strong impression on the Indian ODI side. While Suryakumar Yadav has been given a decent rope to express himself, which he completely wasted till now, Sanju Samson is very likely to get a few more opportunities to make something of it before it’s too late for him.
In the last ODI held between India and West Indies, both Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav returned with horrible figures. Samson was dismissed for nine runs and Suryakumar couldn’t go beyond 24 run mark.
In the 2nd ODI, India could only score 181 runs, despite getting a fantastic opening stand of 90 runs. Opener Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill stitched a 90-run partnership to set the tone for the game ahead, however, the Windies bowlers came right on top of India once the openers departed.
West Indies chased down a total of 181 runs in 37 overs. Skipper Shai Hope remained unbeaten at 63 run score and his batting was complemented by Keacy Carty, who scored 48* runs, from the other end.
The three-match IND vs WI ODI series is currently levelled at 1-1 and now everything boils down to the series decider on August 1. All eyes will be on Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who will make a comeback into the playing11 for the game.
Down below is India’s predicted playing11 for IND vs WI 3rd ODI:
Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma (c), Sanju Samson (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav
