ICC Men’s ODI Ranking Updated After India vs Australia 2nd ODI 2023 | India leaves behind Pakistan, Australia in Team Ranking: India has ensured that they remain unharmed in the ICC Men’s ODI Ranking ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023 after defeating Australia in the 2nd ODI in Indore. The Men in Blue will begin their World Cup 2023 campaign being the top cricketing side in the world.
Notably, India is already placed atop the ranking charts in the T20Is and Test formats. Their recent win against Australia in the 2nd ODI by 99 runs helped them secure a comfortable position in the ODI rankings as well.
With a total of 117 points, India firmly remains on top of the ICC Men’s ODI Ranking while Pakistan slips down to the second slot with 115 rating points. Australia is placed third on the list with 110 points.
KL Rahul-led India thrashed Australia by 99 runs in Indore, last night. The game saw centuries from Shubman Gill (104) and Shreyas Iyer (105) while KL Rahul (52) and Suryakumar Yadav (72) contributed with their half-centuries, to post a mammoth 399-run total against Australia.
In pursuit of a massive total, Australia lost two wickets in quick succession. Matthew Short and Steve Smith were dismissed by Prasidh Krishna on consecutive balls. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne tried to do some rescue work, but soon the latter batter was removed by R Ashwin. David Warner was also subsequently dismissed by Ashwin, but not before his half-century.
All-rounder Sean Abbott, towards the end of the innings, tried to bring down the defeat margin, but he too couldn’t do much against the Indian bowling unit. He scored a quickfire half-century in 36 deliveries but was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.
Australia was bundled out for 217 runs and India won the contest by 99 runs, DLS method.
