The ICC World Cup 2023 is going on. So far all the games have been enthralling as teams have displayed a magnificent brand of cricket. International Cricket Council on Tuesday (10th October) announced the nominees for the Player of the Month award for September.
ICC World Cup 2023: Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Siraj feature as ICC names nominees for Player of the Month award
Indian batter Shubman Gill is the first nominee for the ICC Player of the Month award. The opening batter continued his rich vein of form in the month of September as he batted magnificently. He was one of the main reasons why India won the Asia Cup 2023.
Shubman Gill mustered 480 runs in September at a rollicking average of 80. The young batter smashed three half-centuries and two hundreds and made his team win. He’s also the second-highest-ranked batter in the ICC ODI rankings.
Mohammad Siraj is also one of the nominated names for the ICC Player of the Month award. The Indian pacer is currently ranked the No.1 bowler in the ODIs and he displayed a staggering performance in September with the best coming in Asia Cup 2023.
Mohammed Siraj picked 11 wickets at an average of just 17.27 in September. His best came during the Asia Cup final, where he ran through the Sri Lankan batting lineup. He picked 6 wickets in the game and helped India win the tournament.
The last nominee for the Player of the Month award is England’s Dawid Malan. The left-hander oozed his class throughout the month of September and was the player of the series against New Zealand, which sealed him opening spot.
Dawid Malan registered scores of 54, 96 and 127 in September. He also batted with a high strike rate as of 105.72. He will be one of the crucial aspects for England in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023.
