Batting first, Bangladesh could score a modest 245 runs in the loss of 9 wickets after playing out their quota of 50 overs. Once again the opening became an issue for Bangladesh with Litton Das registering a golden duck. They tried to manage things and add a few runs, but the Kiwis were simply outstanding to outclass Bangladesh, last night.

Bangladesh was made to go four down at a score of 56 runs, however, the senior pros of the team came to the rescue. Wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim and skipper Shakib al Hasan stitched a 96-run partnership to bring the team out of the death hole. But the partnership couldn’t go for long as both the batters were dismissed at a score of 66 and 40 respectively.

Later in the innings, Mahmadullah tried to add a few more runs to the depleted Bangladesh’s score. Mahmadullah played a 41-run knock in 49 deliveries and helped his team post 245 runs total for New Zealand.

New Zealand, too, got an early blow with in-form Rachin Ravindra registering his first failure in the ICC World Cup 2023. Ravindra was dismissed at a score of 9 runs.

However, the Kiwis had several weapons in their arsenal to come out of the early jolt. Opener Devon Conway and comeback man Kane Williamson 80 runs before the dismissal of Devon Conway.

Kane Williamson scored a healthy 78 runs in 107 deliveries and was retired hurt. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips later did the rest of the work. While Mitchell remained unbeaten at 89 runs, Phillips scored 15 runs before the team won by eight wickets.

With the win, New Zealand once again climbs up to the top of the ICC World Cup 2023 Points Table. New Zealand has marked three out of three in the tournament and has become the team to beat in the ICC WOrld Cup 2023.
