Gill got retired hurt at 80 runs while Virat created history with his 50th hundred. Shreyas Iyer’s firey 118 and KL Rahul’s cameo of 39 runs in 20 balls helped India post a huge 397 runs on the board.
In the chase, Conway wasn’t in the best of form and Shami drew the first blood in his first ball. He then dismissed Rachin Ravindra in the very next over. Kane and Daryl combined for an 181-run partnership and Shami again provided a breakthrough and dismissed Kane at 69. As Kane went back, the run rate started to drop and the asking rate rose quickly.
Bumrah and Kuldeep joined the party and picked up a wicket each. Shami bowled excellently and picked up as many as 7 wickets to seal India’s spot in the World Cup 2023 Finals.
