IND vs SA: Virat Kohli flies back to India due to family emergency; Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of Test series – Reports

IND vs SA: The much-anticipated Test series between India and South Africa is just a few days away from now. The series between the teams will kick start from 26th December and will end on 7th January. With the brand of cricket both the teams have played, it’s fair to say that it’ll be an enthralling series to watch.

Ahead of the IND vs SA series, the India team is playing an ongoing three-day intra-squad match to get into the groove for the series. But as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that Virat Kohli missed the game because he flew back home. Notably, he had arrived in South Africa a few days ago. 

The reports added that Virat Kohli travelled back to India because of a family emergency and missed the game. Although it is not known what kind of emergency it is, but it is expected that it isn’t that serious which might rule him out of the IND v SA series.

It is learned that Virat Kohli will be back for the Test series and will join the team in Johannesburg for the first Test, which will begin on December 26 at Centurion. The batter will be joining the team on Friday (22nd December) and will be training with the squad. 

Virat Kohli will be crucial for the team in the upcoming IND vs SA series. The batter has a great track record in South African conditions and has an average of around 50. He will have to play a huge role if the team has to fancy their chances of winning.

The reports in Cricbuzz also suggested that Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the IND vs SATest series. The batter suffered a finger injury during the first ODI against South Africa. He hasn’t recovered yet and therefore has been deemed unfit to play. 

It is now expected that BCCI might add one of Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Easwaran to the squad. The duo played a decent hand in the practice game and there are high chances of them getting picked.
