Fans on Twitter slammed Indian batter Shreyas Iyer after he bagged a duck in the second Test against South Africa. Day 1 of the game at Newlands Park saw wickets galore as 23 wickets fell on the day.
India bundled out South Africa for just 55 runs after being asked to bowl first. However, it was another torrid display with the bat for Rohit Sharma’s men as they got out for just 153 runs, fortunately taking a lead of 98 runs.
India batters apart from Rohit Sharma (39), Shubman Gill (36) and Virat Kohli (46), no other batter could get going. Had they not made vital contributions, who knew India would’ve got out under 100 runs, especially with the kind of bowling South Africa did.
One of the batters that failed for India was Shreyas Iyer. It was expected that he would play a decent role for the team and it was a great opportunity for him. But that wasn’t the case as he bagged another failure and got out early.

Shreyas Iyer bagged a two-ball duck as he got out to Nandre Burger and his wicket put the team under pressure. This was his third failure in the series and he received a lot of flake as well. He was expected to play a crucial role in the series but that couldn’t happen.
Shreyas Iyer scored 31 runs in the first innings of the first Test but after that, nothing went his way. He bagged three consecutive low totals and his wicket cost India a lot. It remains to be seen if he gets to bat another time in the game or not. There are high chances he won’t bat because Indian bowlers have put team on he top and game looks set for a thrilling finish on Day 2 itself.
