India were engaged in a bilateral T20I series with Afghanistan which was scheduled to conclude on 17 January. India have won all three matches against Afghanistan with ease. Indian batters stole the show in the series and so did the bowlers. Pakistan and New Zealand are also engaged in a five-match bilateral T20I series where the hosts New Zealand have defeated the visitors Pakistan 3-0 after three matches.
The India star Suryakumar Yadav is undergoing sports Hernia surgery and hence he is not playing in the IND vs AFG T20I series. Despite missing the T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav is still leading the T20I Batting board. With 869 rating points, Surya is right at the top of the T20I Batting rankings.
Phill Salt, after scoring two back-to-back centuries against West Indies, still holds the second spot with 802 rating points. Following him is Pakistan’s opener Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan had a couple of not-so-convincing T20I days in New Zealand Island that has resulted him in losing some Ranking points but he is still the world’s number 3 T20I batter.
Aiden Markram was ranked 4th before but three back-to-back half-centuries by Babar Azam took the dash and displaced Aiden Markram to fifth spot. With 763 rating points, Babar Azam is ranked fourth and Markram is ranked fifth with 755 rating points.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken a giant leap after his explosive 68 off 34 in the second T20I against Afghanistan. With 689 rating points, Jaiswal has entered the top 10 T20I batter’s list and is ranked 6th. Ruturaj Gaikwad is in the 9th position in the latest updated T20I batting rankings.
Coming to the T20I bowling rankings, Ravi Bishoi has lost his number-one spot after a couple of mediocre performances in the Afghanistan series. Now, Adil Rashid of England is the number one T20I bowler with 726 rating points. Akeal Hosien follows him with 683 rating points.
Two Sri Lankan players- Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana are sharing the third spot with 680 rating points. Axar Patel has really impressed in the T20I series against Afghanistan and got rewards in the T20I bowling rankings where he climbed 12 spots and reached 5th position in the latest updated T20I rankings.
Talking about the T20I allrounder rankings, Shakib Al Hasan has been at the top for a long time and he still holds that number one rank. He is followed by Afghanistani allrounder Mohammad Nabi and Aiden Markram share the second position with 205 rating points.
Hardik Pandya have shifted down to 5th position from the second position due to his absence from international cricket following rehabilitation.
