West Ham agrees Loan deal for Man City Midfielder

Premier League club West Ham have agreed a deal to sign the England midfielder Kalvin Phillips as a loan player for the upcoming season. Phillips who joined City from Leads in July 2022 for €45 million is all set to be loaned to West Ham since coach Pep Guardiola admits that he can’t envisage the English midfielder in his team.

West Ham has reached an agreement to sign the English midfielder on loan with an option to buy. The 28-year-old is all set to leave Etihad and go for medicals in London later this week. This signing will be a boost for the Hammers boss David Moyes. Moyes has been looking in to strengthen the squad amid facing a succession of injuries.

Kalvin Phillips joins West Ham on loan

The Sky Sports report that Premier League side West Ham have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign their midfielder for the remainder of the season. Having made only 31 appearances for Man City since joining the Etihad back in 2022 from Leeds, Kalvin will be moving to another English side to get more chances.

Reports claim that quite a few clubs had shown interest in the 28-year-old. Crystal Palace and Newcastle made contact with City to make a deal for the English midfielder. Juventus, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid were also understood to be interested in signing Kalvin.

Phillips was finding it hard to get a spot in the team for City. Since his joining, he started only twice for The Etihad making 14 other substitute appearances. This season he hasn’t managed a single start in The Premier League. Meanwhile, he is likely to view it as an opportunity to showcase his talent to find a secured place in the team ahead.

Phillips emerged as one of the most outstanding defensive midfielders in the country during his tenure with Leeds. He represented England in 31 matches playing in every game as they reached the final of the Euro 2021. In the Three Lions’ last fixture against North Macedonia, he played for six minutes. This indicates that Gareth Southgate still has faith in his abilities.
