WPL 2024: RCB QUALIFICATION Scenarios For Playoffs, WPL Points Table, Full Orange Cap and Purple Cap Lists

(12 March) WPL 2024: With the Defeat of UP Warriorz against Gujarat Giants, the RCB camp would definitely have taken a deep breath. With DC and MI already qualifying for the playoffs, now it is all on RCB and UPW for the last berth. This post reads the Qualification scenarios for RCB in the WPL 2024 Playoffs along with the current Points Table, Orange Cap, and Purple Cap updated lists.

No one would have thought UP Warriorz could get that close in the match even after the worst start possible. They successfully restricted Gujarat Giants to under 152 runs in the first innings and in the chase of 153, they lost five quick wickets for just 35 runs in seven overs.

Deepti Sharma, the allrounder, came to the rescue and she scored 88 not out off 60 balls with Poonam Khemnar who scored run-a-ball 36 and it all came down to 26 off the last over. Deepti hit two areal boundaries but just that was not enough and they lacked by 8 runs in the end.

Winning this match would have provided UP Warriorz a much stronger stance in the WPL 2024 Points Table but now their campaign is all but over and they will have to rely on other results. Below are the Qualification scenarios for RCB in the Playoffs, the Current Points Table, Orange Cap, and Purple Cap Updated Lists.

WPL 2024: RCB QUALIFICATION Scenarios For Playoffs

Two teams have already guaranteed their spots in the Women’s Premier League 2024 playoffs: Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. Now, for them, the only thing that matters is who tops the table to advance to the final. But there’s still one playoff slot available, and Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz are the two teams fighting for it.

It will be better to say that RCB have their fortune as well as UPW’s fate on their hands. A win for RCB against Mumbai will hand them the direct ticket to the playoffs but a loss here will let them depend on the margin of the defeat.

Notice that none of the teams are yet officially eliminated from the tournament. UP Warriors have played all the games and they will be backing MI to beat RCB with considerable difference. Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, are also in the race as they are left with one game against Delhi Capitals and if they win it with a big difference, they could add on their NRR and hence they are in too!

Here are the qualification scenarios:

  • If RCB beat MI: If Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Mumbai Indians in the contest to be played on 12 March, they will get a straight entry to the playoffs round regardless of their Net Run Rate.
  • If MI beat RCB: Considering the fact that RCB have never defeated Mumbai Indians in the WPL, there are good chances of a similar run to follow and if this happens again, RCB would want to minimize the margin of loss so that their NRR remains positive. They would also hope that Gujarat Giants lose to Delhi Capitals and then can qualify on the NRR war.

For UP Warriorz, it is pretty clear and simple that MI beat RCB by such a big margin, leading to RCB’s NRR lower than -0.343. Gujarat in the race would also want RCB to lose but they will have to defeat Delhi Capitals by a sky-high margin.
