IND vs PAK: The high-octane India vs Pakistan clash at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is underway at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York, but the rain has played a bit of spoilsport so far. The highly-anticipated fixture was earlier delayed due to rain in New York.

The toss, which was won by Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, saw a rain-enforced delay of half an hour. It further got delayed by another 50 minutes after the toss due to heavy downpour.

However, the play couldn’t last long as rain again showed up and the players walked off just after the completion of the over. This time over rain picked up and it was uniform as the covers rushed up to the pitch.

The disappointing news is that the teams may start losing overs from here on as there has already been a delay of around one and a half hours. The official confirmation from the umpires and match officials on the same is still awaited.

The good news is that the rain has stopped and the play resumes at 9:30 PM IST.

Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the qualification scenario for India and Pakistan if the fixture is washed out:

T20 World Cup 2024 Qualification Details after IND vs PAK

Team India won’t feel any pinch of the match getting washed out. The Rohit Sharma-led side will remain in the race and their qualification to the Super 8 will depend on how they perform in their remaining two matches against the USA and Canada.

Pakistan may feel a bit of a pinch though. They have already lost a fixture against the USA and they will be hoping to leave a strong impression in the game against India. However, if the game gets washed out they will have to share the points.

Babar Azam-led side will remain at just a solitary point in two matches. To move up in the Group A Points Table, they will have to emerge winners in their remaining two games against Ireland and Canada.
