The Asia-Africa Cup tournament was first started in 2005 by both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and African Cricket Association (ACA) boards. Players from Asia and Africa participated in this tournament, that is, the Asian team vs the African team. The main purpose behind starting the tournament was to generate maximum revenue and promote cricket in the African continent.
The Asia XI team comprised players from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh while the Africa XI team comprised players from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Kenya. This three-match ODI series was first played in 2005 when Asia XI defeated Africa XI 3-0.
