Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: India’s full schedule, live-streaming details, squad and more: The 9th-edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 kicked off yesterday on a really exciting note as Bangladesh defeated Scotland in the opening fixture while Pakistan got the better of Sri Lanka by a margin of 31 runs in the second fixture of the competition.
Day two will see South Africa take on the Windies and the Indian Cricket Team will also kick off their campaign with their opening Group A fixture versus New Zealand. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, the Women in Blue are looking to lift their maiden T20 World Cup trophy after a strong showing from the men’s team earlier this year.
The Mighty Australians are the most-successful team in the history of the competition, having lifted the trophy six times. England & West Indies have lifted the T20 World Cup title once as well. The Indian Women’s Cricket Team, inspired by recent triumphs over the duo of West Indies and previous edition’s runners-up South Africa, is poised to make an impact.
Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Format and Groups of the Tournament
A total of 10 teams will feature in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup and all the 10 participating teams have been divided into two-groups. Each group consists of five teams each.
Group A includes the likes of Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and Australia while South Africa, Bangladesh, Scotland & England are a part of Group B.
23 games will be played in a span of 18 days, with the all-important final scheduled to take place on the 20th of October.
Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Team India’s full squad and key players
The squad of Team India includes key-players like Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues alongside skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. The 2020 runners-up will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign versus Sophie Devine-led New Zealand on 4th October, followed by matches against Sri Lanka, Pakistan & the Mighty Australians.
