Australia vs India: Mohammad Siraj was called “Brown Dog” by the crowd says BCCI source.

Australia vs India 3rd Test Match: Team India young pacer Mohammad Siraj was allegedly referred to as “Big Monkey” and “Brown Dog” by the group of the crowd in the day 4 of the Sydney Test. After the incident happened the security personnel ejected a group of crowd.

Siraj and his senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah were subjected to racial abuse by the crowd on Saturday to which BCCI official lodged a complaint yesterday. The incident has been reported to ICC match referee David Boon who will further take over the issue.

“Siraj was referred to as ‘Brown Dog’ and ‘Big Monkey’ both of which are racist slurs. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of on-field umpires. They were constantly abusing Bumrah too,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Six People booked by the cops of New South Whales:

During the play of the 4th day, Siraj in 86th over was seen walking to the square-leg umpire from his position of deep before his team-mates and the other umpire joined the huddle.

The play was delayed for close to 7 minutes when the security personnel and New South Whales cops checked the stands from where the racial abuse started.

The cops booked six spectators after speaking to the adjacent crowd. All the six peoples are now in New South Whales custody and taken for further clarity.

Previously, the skipper of Team India Ajinkya Rahane after consulting a few other senior players took the matter to the officials of the match.

“Actually, the players didn’t want to lose focus during the proceedings and decided that the matter would be reported only after the day’s play was over. However, umpires have told us that moment anything of that nature happens, the players should report immediately,” the source added.

Cricket Australia has apologised for the poor behaviour of the crowd and promised to take strict action against the accused.
