Australia vs India: Late IPL has affected Players Fitness says, Justin Langer.
Australia vs India: Australian head coach Justin Langer took a dig at the timing of the recently concluded Indian Premier League. Langer said IPL might be a factor why both the sides are suffering a lot of injuries.
Team India has been badly affected by the spate of the injuries. Most of the key players of Indian lineup have been either ruled out or battling with the pain. Australia too had encountered some injuries in the course of the tour.
Australia and India will lock horns for the one final time in this tour at Brisbane’s Gaba on 15th January.
The latest addition the list of injured Indian player is Jasprit Bumrah and Mayank Agarwal.
Langer expressing his thoughts on the injuries said the timing of the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) could be one of the major factors behind the setbacks to both the sides.

“It is really surprising to think of so much injuries woes in the tour. Both sides have suffered. In my opinion, IPL’s timing was not an ideal one to conduct such a huge tournament,” Justin Langer said in the virtual press conference.
The Indian Premier League 2020 was held in UAE in the window of September-November. Usually, the tournament is conducted in India in the time of April-May. This is the only second time when the cash-rich tournament is taken outside India.
Langer said he is not complaining about the tournament as it helps his country cricketers to develop more white-ball skills.
“I love the IPL, I look at IPL now like I used to look at county cricket for our young players. They go and play county cricket and it helps them (in) their cricket development enormously, I think it is the same with the IPL, helps their white-ball development.“
“But the time at which it was conducted- probably it wasn’t ideal… Because of the COvid and all things. I wonder whether that is having an impact on the cricketers from both the sides especially India. I am sure the authorities will review it,” said the Australian head coach.
