Australia vs India: T Natarajan and Washington Sundar makes their test debut in the 4th Brisbane Test Match.
Australia vs India 4th Test Match: Team India made a couple of the forced changes to the final XI of the Brisbane test match due to injury-hit players. Tamil Nadu duo T Natarajan and Washington Sundar earn their test caps replacing injured Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Team India made really surprising changes to the side prior to the toss. Indian management was seen handing the test caps to T Natarajan and Washington Sundar who were about to make their first test appearance. Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun handed test cap to T Natarajan while senior spinner and drawn match hero Ravichandran Ashwin handed test cap to Washington Sundar. Both the duo received team India’s 300th and 301th Test cap.
Along with Washington Sundar and T Natarajan, Ajinkya Rahane led Indian side made a couple of more changes. Mayank Agarwal replaced injured Hanuma Vihari while Shardul Thaur came in for Ravindra Jadeja.
Hanuma Vihari was previously injured with a hamstring injury. According to the reports, the scans suggested that Vihari has Grade 2 tear and he batted for close to three hours. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had struck on his thumb due to which he was ruled out.
Opportunity for Sundar and Natarajan:
Skipper Ajinkya Rahane during the toss said,” we have made a couple of changes to the side, but it is an opportunity for others. Sundar and Natarajan will come in as a debutant and we want them to enjoy the game. Both are a gem of shorter format cricket. Mayank, Shardul, Natarajan, and Sundar comes in for us.”
Both the debutants were earlier chosen as a net bowler and stayed back with the team after shortest format series. T Natarajan was drafted into the side in the third Test match as Umesh Yadav’s replacement while there was no such official call on Sundar’s inclusion.
Sundar is preferred like-for-like replacement of Ravichandran Ashwin who had a tremendous series before.
Washington Sundar has featured in 26 T20Is and a solitary appearance in ODI since his debut. While Natarajan has played three games in T20Is and one in ODIs before the Test Series.
