India vs England: It will be disrespectful if England doesn’t play its best XI says, Kevin Peterson.
India vs England: Johnny Bairstow’s omission from the England squad for the first two tests against England raised questions over ECB. Former England skipper Kevin Peterson says it will be a huge disrespect to India and BCCI if England doesn’t field its best possible XI in the upcoming India tour.
Along with batsman Jhonny Bairstow, all-rounder Sam Curran and Mark Wood are also not included in the squad by ECB.
Bairstow has been rested for the first two test games which come under the policy of England and Whales Cricket Board (ECB) player management policy. According to the policy acquired by ECB, the player will be given adequate rest and recovery time in a year, which includes 17 Tests and the ICC T20 World Cup.
The former skipper said that India series is not less than the Ashes series and it is even more important now. India has defeated Australia in their home and defeating India in India will be a challenge.
Winning a test game against India will be similar to the victory against Aussie and the selectors should play both James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

“Big debate on whether ENG has picked their best team to play India in the 1st Test. Winning IN India is as good a feeling as winning in Aus. It’s disrespectful to ENG fans & also @BCCI to NOT play your best team. Bairstow has to play! Broad/Anderson have to play!” Pietersen tweeted.
Another tweet from the former cricketer said that no player would want to rest in the series. Everyone wants to play against in-form India in India. Peterson suggested that the players can be granted rest after the cash-rich league, IPL.
“The BEST England players will want to play as many games as possible against India, in India. PICK THEM! Then they go to IPL & earn everything they deserve. Cash is king for every sportsman. They’re a business! They can have a break after that!”
India and England will be playing four Test matches in the tour followed by five T20Is and to wrap the tour three ODIs will be played.
The test series will begin on 5th February and both the teams are asked to reach Chennai on 27th January.
