Disney-Star to increase the ad charges: The thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was super-hit as it broke all the previous records in viewership. Due to covid-19, the Indian T20 League was shifter to UAE, all the games were held behind the closed gates. The fans had to enjoy the games via their televisions or through online streaming platforms.
With the tournament getting super-hit last year all the official broadcasters of IPL 2021 are ready to leverage that. According to the reports, Disney and Star are likely to increase the advertisement charges by 25-30 per cent for the coming IPL season.
The Exchange4Media quoting sources has reported that Ad-Rates for IPL 2021 can increase up to 14 to 15 Lakhs for 10 Second. It is worth noting that for IPL 2020, Star India was charging 12 Lakhs per 10 Second which will now increase by 25% according to the said report.
Why Disney Star may increase advertising rates by 25-30%?
The thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League delivered a blockbuster show.
The IPL 2020 had an increase in viewership by 23 per cent when compared with IPL 2019 and a total of 400 billion viewing minutes.
According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), the advertisement saw a 4 per cent increase in the ad volumes.
“As of now, talks are only between junior-level employees of agencies and Star. However, Star will initiate formal meetings and float prices only after the BCCI announces the final schedule and match rates will also differ as per days and schedules,” informed another senior media planner on the condition of anonymity.
