ICC World Test Championship: Strict quarantine for Team India ahead of the ICC World Test Championship.
ICC World Test Championship: Team India is likely to undergo 14 days of strict quarantine protocol ahead of the inaugural season of the ICC World Test Championship. The Indian contingent will fly to United Kingdome right after the wrap of the IPL 2021 final on May 30th and complete the isolation period just like they did in Australia.
It is learnt that ICC is mulling around the venue for the safe conduct of the ICC World Test Championship. Southampton has the lodging facilities inside the stadium premises and will be preferred as the venue ahead of the Lords. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is working along with the ICC. ECB having the rights to conduct the final of the tournament has blocked the entire hotel between June 1-26.
To be on the safer side, ICC is also planning to keep a reserve day for the final. The decision came after getting a notice of finicky weather in the UK. The governing body wants to ensure an extra day for play if rain plays its part in the game.
The Indian team has agreed to the 14-days quarantine in the UK and the changes in future due to any situation of Covid. “The quarantine is going to be similar to Australia. The first few days are going to tough however there will be a weaver after that so that we can train and practice a little while.”
The final of the ICC World Test Championship will be played from 18th June to 22nd June with one day saved as reserved.
The Indian players will not fly back to India after the WTC final against New Zealand to get acclimatised to the conditions for the ahead Test series against England.
For the white ball series against South Africa, India will fly back home following which the white ball series against New Zealand is also scheduled. The ICC T20 World Cup will start in October and end in November post which India and New Zealand will play a test series in India.
To end the hectic and tedious year, India will fly to South Africa for a full fledged tour of all formats.
