India vs England T20Is: Jofra Archer might miss the first T20I against India in Ahmedabad.
India vs England T20Is: English pacer Jofra Archer is likely to miss out on the opener of the T20I series against India due to an elbow injury. Archer had to sit back in the dressing room in the fourth and last test against India due to the injury.
English head coach Chris Silverwood in the recent video conference said that Jofra will be continuously monitored by the medical team and further call will be taken after their reports.
The pacer also missed the second test, however, England said that it was due to rotation policy and the injury had no previous records.
“Jofra’s elbow did flare up a little bit and the medical staff are managing that at the moment,” Silverwood said.
“The medical experts are working with him. He has trained with the white ball squad today. We will be monitoring his situation.”
Silverwood wants Archer to be fit for all forms of cricket. He said, “I want him to have a long and successful career in all the forms of cricket.” When asked about limited the number of overs for him, Silverwood replied, “That’s not something I can predict right now. We will have to take a call after assessing his progress and with coordination with the medical team. It will be out in the course of time.”
It remains to be seen if Archer will participate in the white ball leg or go back and have surgery. He is a vital player for the Englishmen and his absence might create an irreplaceable void in the team.
India and England will lock horns for the T20I series. The five-game T20I series will begin on 12th March in Ahmedabad. All the five-game will be played in the revamped Narendra Modi Stadium. Both the team will then move out for the ODI leg. Pune will be hosting the 50 overs game.
