India vs England T20I: Ready to bat anywhere in the team says Ishan Kishan.
India vs England T20I: Mumbai Indians star performer and latest young addition to the Indian national side, Ishan Kishan feels he don’t mind batting at any position in the team as he feels more confident when under pressure. Ishan Kishan and Surya Kumar Yadav, the two batsmen from Mumbai Indians have received a maiden national call-up for the T20I series against England.
Kishan was in tremendous touch last year for Mumbai Indians where the wicketkeeper-batsman scored 512 runs and ended up on the winning side. He was the highest run-getter for his team in IPL 2020. Carrying his scintillating form to the domestic circuit, Ishan Kishan smacked 174 off 94 in the first match of Vijay Hazare Trophy for Jharkhand.
He batsman admitted that breaking to the Indian national side was a bit of a task and now as he got the opportunity, he is willing to take the opportunity at any position.
“It’s always difficult to make it to the team, but that’s how it’s always been. I don’t mind playing anywhere, having switched between playing in the middle and top-order in my career so far,” Ishan said in an interview with Wisden as quoted by Mumbai Indians.
“I feel more confident to play under pressure and I think the various domestic formats, India A games help you do well in that situation,” he added.
The young wicketkeeper-batsman said, his Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma and Director of Cricket Operations Zaheer Khan helped him a lot.
In the IPL it’s important to make the most of an opportunity whenever you get one. It’s the hunger and dedication to doing well that helps you get across the line,” said Ishan.
“It is always good to have a mentor like Rohit Bhai and so many others in the management. Playing for Mumbai Indians was something special and this franchise is the bedrock of my cricket. I have developed my game beyond what I could possibly think of with the help of these mentors.”
