ICC WTC Final: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday unveiled the massive prize money for the winner and runner-up of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship. Winner of the final between India and New Zealand to fetch a whopping $1.6 Million, confirmed the ICC.

Virat Kohli-led India and Kane Williamson-led New Zealand will lock horns for the summit clash on June 18th at Rose Bowl, Southampton.

According to the ICC, the winning outfit will receive approx 11.72 Crores Indian Rupees ($1.6 Million) while the runner-ups will bag INR 5.86 Crores ($800,000).

“The winners of the much-awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand will take home a purse of $ 1.6 million along with the ICC Test Championship Mace.

“The losing team will get $ 800,000 for finishing second in the nine-team competition, which was played over a near two-year cycle, adding context to Test cricket and to crown the first official world champions in the longest format of the game,” ICC said in an official release.

The parent cricket body also said that the teams at three, four and five positions in the ICC World Test Championship will also be given some prize money.

The third rank holder will fetch a cheque of $450,000 while fourth and fifth placed teams will get $350,000 and $200,000 respectively.

“The prize money for the team finishing third in the ICC World Test Championship Standings Powered by MRF Tyres is $ 450,000. The team fourth on the table will be awarded $ 350,000, the one that finishes fifth gets $ 200,000 while the remaining four teams will get $ 100,000 each.

The ICC also said that if the final ends in a draw of tie, both the teams will share the prize money and the Test Championship Mace.

“In case the final ends in a draw or a tie, the finalists will split the prize money for the first and second places and share possession of the Mace during the time they remain champions,” the ICC statement further added.
