IND vs SL 2021: Team India’s ace pacer and Shikhar Dhawan’s deputy Bhuvneshwar Kumar reckons that the youngsters have the requisite confidence and experience to do well in India’s vs Sri Lanka series, all thanks to the IPL.
Team India’s so-called second-string team consists of as many as half a dozen uncapped players, who performed well in the suspended IPL 2021 and got their maiden ticket to play at international levels.
The likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chetan Sakariya and Varun Chakravarthy are on their maiden appearances in the Sri Lanka tour which consists of three ODIs and as many T20Is.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar in Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’ said all the young players are having experience of IPL where they compete alongside big international stars and are confident.

“We have good players and they have experience of IPL, they are young but they have experience of IPL, playing T20 for so many years and they have done well for their teams. So, it will be beneficial for the team that they will carry the confidence of IPL and they are young and talented,” said Bhuvneshwar while featuring on a show for Star Sports.
The senior pacer has been amongst the injuries that refrained him from participating in the cricket games for over a year.
Kumar made his comeback in the last England series, earlier this year, and started playing domestic matches to remain fit and motivated.
“When I was almost recovered, domestic cricket was going on as well. So my focus was to get fit and make a comeback and then I started the preparation for the match.
He further mentioned that the domestic matches helped him perform in the England series following which he earned the ICC Player of the Month Award for the month of March.
“Before the England series, I played domestic cricket, so that it helps me get the required match practice. One shouldn’t take things lightly, while playing domestic cricket, and that kept me motivated to play for India and to stay fit,” he asserted.
