ENGvsIND: England fans threw balls at Mohammad Siraj on day one of the third test

ENGvsIND: After facing harsh racial abuse from the Australian fans in Australia, earlier this year, India’s new pace sensation Mohammad Siraj was now exposed to the England fans who threw balls at the pacer while he was fielding at the boundary line.

Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant revealed the incident in the press conference after the day’s play on day one.

The replay of the incident showed that Indian skipper Virat Kohli getting angry and asking Siraj to throw the objects out of the ground.

“I think, somebody (from the crowd) threw a ball at Siraj, so he (Kohli) was upset. You can say whatever you want, chant, but don’t throw things at fielders. It is not good for cricket, I guess,” Pant said at the end of the first day’s play.

Siraj was targeted in Australia also which was apparently his first test tour. He was racially abused and was called out with a few names as well. The incident was taken to the umpires which eventually led to the eviction of a couple of fans from the ground.

Earlier, in the Lord’s test match, KL Rahul was given the same treatment while he was fielding near the boundary ropes. A few fans were seen throwing champagne corks at Rahul and Virat was not happy with that and asked Rahul to throw it back.

England made a commendable turnover following the loss at the Lord’s test match. India got bundled out for a mere 78 runs in the first innings. Ace pacer James Anderson rattled through the Indian batting unit and sent three players in just a matter of 11 overs.

Chasing a baby target, the English opener showed great resistance as the two went on to stitch a partnership of unbeaten 120 runs at the stumps on day one. Both the openers, Rory Burns (52*) and Haseeb Hameed (60*), completed their half-centuries ahead of the stumps.
