Vivo IPL 2021: He has been giving us hard times in the nets, says Jason Holder on Umran Malik

Umran Malik delivers the fastest delivery of the Vivo IPL 2021, clocks at 153 Kmph.

Vivo IPL 2021: Praise from all around the cricket fraternity heaps over India’s young pace sensation Umran Malik as he delivers the fastest delivery of the Vivo IPL 2021 (153 Kmph). The speedster from Kashmir has been bowling with raw pace in the Vivo IPL 2021’s recent fixtures for SRH.

Malik, who played his first IPL match against KKR bowled with sheer pace and clocked over 150 Kmph. Shattering his own record, Malik in his second game went on to bowl a 153 Kmph speedy delivery in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

It is noteworthy that Umran Malik was drafted into the SRH squad as a replacement for pacer T Natarajan, who contracted the covid virus.

Senior all-rounder Jason Holder has opened that the young pacer has shown hard times in the nets to the SRH batters with his pace deliveries.

“I think the first thing to mention is his pace. That’s his biggest asset. He’s just been consistent in training and he’s been giving us quite a hard time in training. He has been very hard to get hold of. As you have seen in the games, he is obviously deceiving a lot of batters for pace. That extra pace always adds a boost to any bowling attack,” the former West Indian captain said at a post-match conference.

The Caribbean cricketer further said that Malik’s control is even while bowling in excess of 150 Kmph makes him much more effective.

“It’s good to see his control as well. A lot of guys who have bowled quick over the years, sometimes, may seem erratic. But he has been pretty consistent and he has grouped really good deliveries together.”

Malik has played two matches in the IPL 2021 in which he has just managed to pick one wicket. Despite picking a solitary wicket in his two outings, the 21-years old pacer has been economical. He remained under 6 in both the games and deceived several batters with his raw pace.

A number of commentators along with former cricketers have praised the young gun for his phenomenal performance. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli, during the post-match presentation after the RCB vs SRH match, reckons that India needs to groom such exciting talents.
