BCCI President Sourav Ganguly resigned from the post of director of ATK Mohun Bagan

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly resigned from the post of director of ATK Mohun Bagan.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has recently resigned as the director of ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) after several complaints of conflict of interests. Ganguly came under fire after the announcement of the two new IPL franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow.

Sanjeev Goenka owned RPSG group, which also co-own the ATL Mohun Bagan, won the bid for Lucknow based IPL franchise for a massive INR 7090 Crores during the team auction while Ahmedabad has been acquired by CVC Capitals.

Ganguly came faced the public heat as he used to co-own ISL team ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) along with Sanjeev Goenka. It was alleged that the BCCI President has favoured the RPSG group for the IPL team due to their close ties from the Football club.

However, later it was revealed that nothing of that sort happened as fair bids were placed by all the business giants and RPSG won the bid as it put up the massive numbers in front of the officials.

It is noteworthy that Sourav Ganguly has already resigned as the director of the leading ISL club ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) to prevent further conflicts and to focus solely on the cricket of India.

“Well, I think he is going to step down from Mohun Bagan completely… I think today,” Goenka said. Once he realized that he has jumped the gun, he quickly added: “It is for Sourav to make the announcement. I mean, sorry. I think I pre-empted it.” said Goenka on Tuesday.

ATK Mohun Bagan is owned by a company named Kolkata Games and Sports Pvt. Ltd. which consists of several corporate giants including Harshavardhan Neotia, Sanjiv Goenka, and Utsav Parekh. The former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly also had his stakes in the club along with the aforementioned people.
