T20 World Cup 2021: Universe Boss left everyone bewildered with his acts inside the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, yesterday, as he indicated his retirement from all level international games for West Indies. The Jamaican superstar with his beaming glasses on signalled that it is going to be his final World Cup assignment.

During the match between Australia and West Indies, Dwayne Bravo was set to bid adieu to the international circuit, however, Chris Gayle took everyone for a surprise as he waved his bat and even got a standing ovation from his teammates after scoring a scantly 9 balls 15.

To add more to the drama, Gayle was seen distributing his cricketing gears to the fans and also signed the camera.

The 42 years old southpaw, later, informed that he is “semi-retired” as of now and wants to draw curtains to his international career in front of his home crowd if West Indies Cricket allows him.

“I’m semi-retired. I’m one away. I was just having some fun today,” said Gayle after the match against Australia.

He further informed that it is going to be his last World Cup, though, he wants to play one more for West Indies.

“Put everything that happened aside. I was just interacting with the fans in the stands and just having some fun seeing as it’s going to be my last World Cup game. I’d love to play one more World Cup. But I don’t think they will allow me,” he added.

Chris has his final wish to play in front of the Jamaican crowd to thank them for all the support they gave him over all these years.

“It’s been a phenomenal career. I didn’t announce any retirement but they actually gave me one game in Jamaica to go in front of my home crowd, then I can say ‘hey guys, thank you so much,” he wished.

“Let’s see. If not, I’ll announce it, long time and then I’ll be joining DJ Bravo in the backend and say thanks to each and everyone but I can’t say that as yet,” concluded Chris Gayle.

Christopher Henry Gayle has been at the pinnacle of his T20 game. He has ruthlessly dominated the park in the format. No ground seemed to be big enough, no bowling unit looked formidable enough to outclass the legendary Gayle in the shortest format.

To put everything into perspective, Chris Gayle has a staggering 14321 runs in his T20 career comprising 453 matches. He has whacked a massive 22 centuries in the format, the second on the list is Michael Klinger with just 8 tons under his belt.

Moreover, the Jamaican superstar has over 7,000 runs in test cricket, 10480 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and one less than 1900 runs in T20I cricket.
