ICC announce “Team of the T20 World Cup 2021” without an Indian Player.
T20 World Cup 2021: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday released its official team of the tournament for the recently completed ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The compiled 11 players outfit consists of players from Australia, England, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and New Zealand.
The panel of five members with the likes of premier commentators Ian Bishop, Shane Watson and Natalie Germanos and journalists Lawrence Booth and Shahid Hashmi picked up the team after reviewing players performances in the entire T20 World Cup 2021.
Surprisingly, none of the Indian players was selected in the group of eleven best players of the tournament. Virat Kohli and his men endured an underwhelming tournament with two defeats and three wins from five matches.
English wicketkeeper-batsman Job Buttler was paired alongside the “Player of the tournament” award winner David Warner in the opening slot. Interestingly, the panel handed over the reins to Pakistani skipper Babar Azam, who came at number three on the list and is the leader of the side.
Further Sri Lankan Charith Asalanka, South African Aiden Markram and English all-rounder Moeen Ali were picked in the side to form a firing middle order. The bowling attack for the team of the tournament is led by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood and kiwi pacer Trent Boult. Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga, Australian spinner Adam Zampa and Protea speed gun Anrich Nortje were picked in the best 11 as the other three bowlers.
Meanwhile, young Pakistani pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi was kept as the 12th man in the team.

ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Team of the tournament:
David Warner, Jos Buttler (wk), Babar Azam (c), Charith Asalanka, Aiden Markram, Moeen Ali, Wanindu Hasaranga, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Trent Boult, Anrich Nortje.
12th man – Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Renowned commentator Ian Bishop elaborated their choices and the exact reason behind them in the official ICC statement.
“As a panel we felt that the combination of runs plus strike rate plus match impact for batsmen, to be decisive factors. We endeavoured to select players as close to their initial team position where possible. This intention was not always a reality, as some compromises had to be made,” said Ian Bishop.
“The panel also saw the impressive young talent of Charith Asalanka and Aiden Markram as a real bonus for the team and their countries in this tournament. Moeen Ali was selected as that utility all-rounder who could be applied with the bat to various match situations and innings requirements. He also offered a more than substantial bowling option,” he added.
