The Ashes 2021-22: The all-important test series of the Ashes 2021-22 is just around the corner. The test series is all set to commence on 8th December at Brisbane’s Gaba. Earlier, the series was on the verge of cancellation due to the Australian Government’s covid-19 guidelines for visitors. The Englishmen were reluctant to visit Down Under following such harsh rules and covid protocols.
As per the rules, English players were not allowed to be accompanied by any of their family members, however, a few rounds of talks have simplified the equation as the families are now allowed.
The last edition of the Men’s Ashes was held in 2019 which concluded on a dramatic draw at Kennington Oval, London. Before that, Australia bagged the series in 2017-18 at their backyard with a 4-0 lead.

- Australian Test captain Tim Paine has stepped down from captaincy following allegations of a sexting scandal. Paine has also announced his break from cricket following the investigaations.
- Cricket Australia (CA) has appointed ace pacer Pat Cummins as the skipper of Australia’s test side.
- Steve Smith has been named Vice-captain of the team.
