IPL 2022 Match Dates, Schedule, Fixtures:
The dates for the IPL 2022 are out now. The fifteenth season of the IPL will begin on March 26, 2022, and the tournament will end on 29 June. *The dates may change due to the inconvenience caused by the dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.
Further, it has been learnt that the IPL 2022 opener will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their arch-rivals Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Mumbai’s home ground Wankhede.
The tournament will host a total of 74 matches with the two new teams getting inducted.

In the IPL 2022, it is expected that the prize amount will increase with the brand value of the tournament growing leaps and bounds. The reports claim that the prize money of the IPL 2022 winner may take a massive jump as the IPL is doing exceptional in its TRP and viewership.
Moreover, the value of sponsorships is also increasing. The media rights of the tournament reportedly took a massive windfall after the success of the IPL 2021.
IPL 2022 Format Details:
The BCCI is going to adopt a new match format for the IPL 2022 which is explained down below:
- Ten teams will be randomly divided into two groups of five teams each.
- Every team will, at first, play two matches (home and away) with the other four teams of its groups. In this way, a team can complete 8 matches.
- After completing its home and away matches in its group, the team will move out and play one match each with the four teams of another group.
- Earlier a team played 8 matches, now 4 more matches have been played which makes a total of 12 matches.
- Two more matches needs to be played.
- Now the team will play two matches (home and away) with the fifth team of the second group.
- Now the team completes its 14 matches (7 home and 7 away).
- After completion of the 14 matches, teams will be ranked in points table according to their total points and net run rate.
- The top four teams will go in the next round which is playoffs.
- In playoff Quilifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and Final will be played.
